Thanks to everyone at NRS

All the people who answer phones at NRS who do such an amazing job should feel great about the work they do this Christmas season. You are truly fulfilling the true spirit of the holiday by helping your fellow human beings in need. As a phone crisis counselor you may not understand it with every call, but over time you are truly making a big difference in the world and improving the lives of kids across the country who have few if any other places to which to turn. I truly think that all of you should be very content and happy with the work you do, because you are so desperately needed in a dangerous and somewhat uncaring world. I think NRS employees and volunteers should feel no less useful and important than doctors, nurses, paramedics, police, firefighters, youth counselors or anyone else who enters desperate situations with a brave sense of rescue and mission.

So why am I writing? Simply to thank all of you for the unsung work that you do every day, and to tell you there are people out in the larger world who know how vital a job it is that you do, regardless of whether you get attention and recognition for it.
