I'm currently 17 and I wish to run away as soon as I finish my 12th grade (which would take at least one year) . My parents made it clear that they won't support me and now they are planning to send me to the local college which I don't like. I'm sure they're doing these to stop me from being myself. So I wish to runaway far far far away from home and there's no way for them to contact me unless I wishes so.

Hi there,
Thanks for telling us your story. Running away is an option, but it can be very difficult to do safely, and it’s important to have a plan in place. It sounds like you’re willing to wait one more year and you’re seventeen. When you turn18, you will have reached the age of majority in most states (but not all states, so make sure to check the laws in your state). This means that you will no longer be under the guardianship of your parents, that you don’t have to live with them, and that they cannot make you return home if you do not want to. We can help you find resources and help you decide on the best options for you. Our ability to help over the forums is limited, so a better way to reach us is to call our number at 1-800-RUNAWAY or chat on our website at www.1800runaway.org. Both our chat and our phone lines are available 24/7 and confidential. We hope you get in touch with us soon.
