Where would my girlfriend go after CPS takes her? [California]

Long story short, my girlfriend had enough of her horrible father and she contacted CPS to have a meeting and possible get taken away... but to where?
I wonder if we can still keep communication between us. She's about to be 18 in 2 weeks. Please reply to this thread. I need to know what can happen.
