Hi. Thanks for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into your plan about running away from home. It’s great that you’ve taken the time out to think about ways to keep yourself safe and how you’ll provide necessities for yourself like food, clothing, and water. You might also want to consider that if you are under the age of 18 in most states you would still be considered a minor. This means that your legal guardian has the right to file a runaway report. It’s important to keep in mind that if you are found by the police you’ll be returned back home. In addition, it may be important to think about where you’ll stay and lay your head at night. Please do keep in mind that anywhere you stay without parental consent may be at risk of harboring charges. However, you can always text the word SAFE and your location to 69866 for the nearest shelter and housing locations in your area if you find that you don’t have anywhere else safe to go. You may also want to consider visiting https://www.petsofthehomeless.org they appear to be committed to feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to homeless pets. Please feel free to give us a call at any time at 1800-runaway if you would like to discuss your situation further or need any additional resources. If you are unable to reach out via phone you can always chat in with us at 1800runaway.org. Thank you again for sharing a bit of your story with us. We hope this information was helpful. Take care.

Running away with my dog
Hello, I think I might have posted this somewhere else on this, forum but I cant find it so Ill post this here. I have been planning for a very long time. About 6 months. I am from the midwest (the plains) I cant get into why I want to leave. Just some background before my post. I am early to mid teens I have planned to have at least 6500 dollars to survive the trip, multiple clothes that nobody would think I would wear, a large mountain climbing backpack I plan to ditch my small phone and trackable electronics, and rely on maps and bus routes and times. I am planning for 4 pairs of strong durable boots that could withstand the miserable weather. I plan to have a pocket knife and pepper spray (I am a philosophical pacifist but just in case) strong jeans, some of my favorite book series to keep morale up, non perishable food, safe drinking water, and a strong 5'11 look, and physical conditioning and weight loss and muscle gain I have took to survive cold, run from danger, and more including false trails to my potential whereabouts. Anyways my dog is 2 years old, and I love him deeply, and he loves me deeply. The thought of him missing me to the day he dies deeply pains me, but I just feel I can not stay. I am debating to keep him home with a family, or take him with me, a future bum. Help me please. I acknowledge you are not legal experts, but please give me the best info you can.Tags: None
