  • Long distance, wanting to just run away, 19 yrs old

Hello! I have been facing some troubles lately and I needed some advice. Me and my friend have been friends for some time now and we both ended up having feelings for each other. Lately we've been discussing a possible meet up, since she lives Pennsylvania and I live in Indiana, but theres several things stopping me. My parents think it isnt such a good idea to meet her, saying shes not real and such. I've called her numerous times on the phone, skyped her, and Ive also checked out her social media accounts to make sure. But still, my parents are not allowing me to and I'm 19, so I know that they can't stop me, but I don't want to cause problems with me and my parents relationship. Another factor is time. I don't know how to make time with college and a job to just visit her for a weekend. If i request anymore days off, I'll surely be fired. But the thing is, shes one of the most important people in my life as of now. I don't think I can be away from her anymore, i have such strong feelings about her and life is hard knowing there's such a slim chance of meeting as of now. I was really hoping to get some advice on how to go about this, as it's been a very prying question lately.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to write to us here at the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you and your friend care about each other very much and are ready to meet. It is understandable that your parents would be concerned about you meeting a stranger online but it sounds like you are fully confident in your friendship. Unfortunately we are non-directive so we do not give advice but if you like you can give us a call and we can talk to you about all of your options 1-800-786-2929. If you are having a hard time deciding if you want to meet your friend it could be helpful to make a list of pros and cons about the situation. If you love someone enough you find a way.
We are confident that you are going to make the right choice. Best of luck,
    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
