    13 and ashamed HELP

    Hello,
Thanks for contacting the National Runaway Safeline.
It sounds like you have suspicions that you could be pregnant. We understand how scary this must be for you and we are here to listen. It sounds like you are really afraid of how your family might react but first do you think it might be a good idea to first find out medically if you may or may not be pregnant?

Do you know about what options you might consider for taking a pregnancy test? Well there are options to take a home pregnancy test or going to a health clinic to have a pregnancy test done. NRS has a national data base so we may be able to assist you with finding health care services in your area. You might also consider Planned Parenthood for clinic locations that do pregnancy testing. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/tee...gnancy-testing
    How does that sound?

We understand that you may feel confused or somewhat panic about your situation. That being said good for you reaching out to NRS for help. NRS does not sit in judgment of the people who contact us, we hope that you are not too hard on yourself by down grading who or what you are as a person.
    You don’t deserve that.

Please call 1-800-Runaway (786-2929) if you would like more information/options and or referrals. NRS has live chat via our website www.1800Runaway.org from 4:30pm until 11:30pm (CST).
NRS is here to listen and here to help. Let us know how we might assist you.

Thanks again for contacting the National Runaway Safeline.
    Take Care

        RE: But is it possible?

        Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us again. It sounds like you are in a really scary situation. We are not sex education experts, but we can give you some general information. The website www.sexetc.org might be a good place to look for information about conception and pregnancy, which might help you figure out if you might be pregnant. You said you think you might have gotten some of your boyfriend's sperm inside you. If any semen made it inside of your vagina, you are at risk for pregnancy and diseases. If you are pregnant, you will not get your period, so if your period is late, you might think about taking an at home pregnancy test, which you can buy at any pharmacy or drug store. You could also call the Planned Parenthood hotline for more information at 1-800-230-7526.

If it turns out that you are not pregnant, there are steps you can take to avoid this situation in the future. www.sexetc.org has information about birth control and condoms, which prevent pregnancy. If you ever have unprotected sex or this happens again, there is also a drug called emergency contraception, which you can take up to three days after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. In some states you might have to get parental permission to buy this drug at a pharmacy, or you might need a prescription. If you ever think you need emergency contraception, you can call the Emergency Contraception Hotline at 1-888-230-7526 and they will tell you where the drug is available over the counter. If you are pregnant, you have options and we can help talk you through talking to your family about the situation. It is understandable that you are feeling scared, and we are here to support you in any way that we can. All of our services are confidential and anonymous, so there’s no reason to be embarrassed to ask questions. Please don’t hesitate to call us 24/7. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon, and wish you the best of luck.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
