  • Why me?

Awhile ago i was dating an amazing boy who was two years older than i am. (im thirteen..) and he asked me to send naked pictures to him...and i didnt. Then he waited until after we broke up, and said he would kill himself if i didnt send the pictures...and i still cared about him..alot, so i did. His dad eventually found out through facebook and called my mom...so i ran away from my problem....except my problem came with me. The boy who i sent the pictures to... he ran away with me because he was afraid his mom would beat him....and we have nowhere to go..

    Re: Why me?

Thanks for reaching out with your questions and concerns. It sounds like you are in a tough spot right now and needing to get some help and support. You mentioned that you recently left with your ex boyfriend because of some pictures you had sent him and both of your parents found out. Right now it sounds like the big concern is that you feel you don't have a lot of options and don't have a safe place to go. It's understandable you are upset and sometimes when things like this happen you just want to get away from the problem. Have you spoken with your mom since she found out about the pictures or did you take off before that? If your ex boyfriend is afraid that his mom is going to abuse him in any way or if she has done that before he does have the right to let someone know or report it.

At 13 you are still a minor so your parent/guardian would have the right to make a runaway report which means if the police found you they would most likely just bring you home. If you feel you are not ready to go home right now do you have a safe place you can go such as a friend or another family member? If you would like to discuss your situation more in depth you can always contact us at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). Our hotline is available 24 hours a day and our services are completely confidential and anonymous. We have different resources such as a message service or parent conference call where you can start communication with your parent in a confidential way and we can help mediate that conversation. We also can help look up resources such as youth shelters or places in your area that may be a safe place to go. We have an online live chat available as well from 4:30p to 11:30p CST. There is always someone here to listen and here to help. Feel free to contact us anytime. Take care and be safe.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
