What are some ways that I can tell my parents that I have cancer? I really dont know how to but I had to get my head shaved today so they will probably see it but how do I tell them? And I just got in a car crash today after fainting from being so sick and I just broke my cell only form of communication so that hasnt helped me one bit. And then how do I talk to my class about it? I really just want some tips on how to talk about it. Im really scared.

    Re: talking

Thank you for contacting us here at the National Runaway Switchboard and we hope to be of some assistance to you during this time in your life. We are sorry to help about your recent health condition of cancer and do emphasize with you. You have a great amount of courage to want to discuss this with your parents and classmates.

Do you think that your parents might already be aware of your current health? Have you been able to discuss this with anyone else (like a friend, your doctor, your hospital social worker, school counselor or advisor)? Do you feel that you would be able to sit down with your parents to explain that you have something important to say to them and were looking for their support? Do you feel that your doctor or hospital social worker would be able to join you in the conversation to help support you in informing your parents? It sounds like you have been able to think about who you would like to share this with.
