      Re: Hi

      Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us here at the National Runaway Safeline (NRS). We appreciate you sharing your situation on our forum. It seems you are worried that you are pregnant because of some of the symptoms you are experiencing. It sounds unnerving to not know as well as the uncertainty of what to do. We are glad you reached out for help. We unfortunately are not health professionals or experts, but it seems you may benefit from going to the doctor to have a pregnancy test completed or buy one from a local pharmacy as they are available over the counter. If you do not have access to healthcare at the moment, it may help to call 1-800-230-PLAN(7526) or visiting https://www.plannedparenthood.org/ to find a local healthcare provider.

You also mentioned struggling with anorexia nervosa which often is a difficult issue to manage alone. It may help to speak to a health professional about some ways to stay healthy, how to cope, and to find some support in all of this. We'd like to offer the following resources if you would like to seek help and recovery for anorexia nervosa.

Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) Hotline: 1-630-577-1330 (Monday-Friday 9a-5p CST) http://www.anad.org/
Eating Disorders Referral and Information Center www.edreferral.com
National Eating Disorder Helpline Hotline: 1-800-931-2237 Website: www.myneda.org

We hope these resources are helpful, and if you would like to talk more about how we can help and options we can explore with you, please reach out by phone or chat. 1-800-786-2929 www.1800runaway.org.

      Good luck and take care,

      NRS

        Am I pregnant?

i don't know whether I'm pregnant or not. it's been a few days since it happened and my stomachs been hurting. I was nearly sick and I've been in pain today. I'm waiting to see if my period comes but if it doesn't I'll be so upset because I'm only 13. if I am pregnant I wouldn't be able to tell my mother because she'd be so against it and probably never forgive me. If I am, I would consider an abortion. I mean I'm completely against them but I can't raise a child at this age, it'd be too much to handle. I don't know what to do, it's all I can think about and I'm so scared and worried.
        thanks

          Re: Am I Pregnant?

          Hey-

Thanks so much for reaching out to us. It is completely understandable that you are scared and worried about maybe being pregnant. It sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into what you would do if you found out that you were pregnant. It is great you are trying to come up with some sort of plan. We are glad you reached out to us for help and we will do our best to assist you.

You mentioned that it’s been a few days since it happened. Usually, you have to wait a few weeks for a pregnancy test to be able to tell you if you are pregnant or not. Since you seem eager to do something ASAP, it could be a good option for you to reach out to Planned Parenthood at 1-800-426-5678. They offer different services having to do with pregnancy and women’s health. They could provide you information and possibly even test you to see if you are pregnant. You can also visit their website at www.plannedparenthood.org for more information.

Another great website you can checkout is www.sexetc.org. On this site you can find information on a variety of different things that teens deal with including pregnancy, birth control and sex.

You can also reach out to us at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) we are a 24/7 confidential hotline and would love to provide you with any resource or support you may need.

We wish you the best of luck and hope to hear from you soon.

            Re: 13 and pregnant?

Im freaking out here. I didnt have sex but sperm got near my vagina and i think i could be pregnant. I told the person i did the stuff with and he said its not to worry but, im feel bloated and have pains in my tummy. My only options are...

            1) tell my mum
            2)runaway then give it away
            3)get an abortion (somehow)
            4)kill myself

I cant tell my friends either because they wouldnt understand, i havent got a test yet but im too scared to find out the results! I dont know what to do at all! Im so dumb! And i get that its only a slim chance but...im scared!

I think this might look like a reply too but its a question, i didnt really care how i did i just am really freaking out!

              re: 13 and pregnant?

              Hi,

It sounds like you are afraid that you might be pregnant because of recent sexual activity. You may want to seek out assistance from a health provider to explain what you are feeling. From what you shared, it sounds like you may not be pregnant. Usually you have to have had sexual intercourse, to consider a pregnancy. Have you considered that the bloating in your stomach and pains could be a period? The only way to be absolutely sure is to see a doctor so they can examine you. A pregnancy test may be a good idea as well. You could try to see if there is a local Planned Parenthood near you that can help. The national number is 1-800-230-7526.

              Best of luck,
              NRS

                  Re: 13 and pregnant?

                  Hello,
Thanks for reaching out to us today.

It sounds like you’ve identified an issue in your life that seems like it might have gotten out of control. Being young and sexually active can be very hard to manage. It sounds like you might want to talk to a professional about how you’ve been feeling. Have you considered seeing a therapist or a counselor about this addiction? There are treatments and ways to handle this. If you wanted to talk directly, we could refer you to a professional.

One thing you might do on your own, if you’re curious about finding out more and being safe, is visiting www.sexetc.org. This is a great resource for teens who are sexually active. They have a lot of information that you might have been too embarrassed to or didn’t even know to ask. There are a lot of other things that could potentially happen to you in addition to pregnancy. Please consider reading up on the risk of HIV/AIDS and STI’s before you continue to have sex.

Since you’ve mentioned you think you might be pregnant, you might consider finding out if there is a Planned Parenthood near you. They might be able to tell you what resources are available to you if you indeed are pregnant. They have a national hotline you could call if you wanted to find out more: 1-800-230-7526. If you want to find out for sure if you are pregnant, you could go to any local drug store or large convenience store (such as Walmart) and get a basic pregnancy test. You don’t need to be an adult to buy one, but if you’re uneasy about it, you might ask a trusted friend to purchase it for you.

It sounds like this might be something that could be a sensitive topic to bring up with your family. Being pregnant unexpectedly can be very stressful and scary. We want you to know that we’re here for you. We’re confidential and 24/7. If you wanted to call in here sometime at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929), we could talk about any fears or apprehensions you’re having. We’re not here to judge you or tell you what to do, sometimes it just feels good to let someone else know about what you’ve been experiencing. We’re here to listen.
We hope this helps. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do.

                  All the best,
                  NRS

                      13 and think I'm pregnant

                      Hello,

I'm a 13 year old girl and I attend secondary. I met up with a guy and he's been with me for a while, I told him I think I'm pregnant and he has been helping me look for solutions but I don't want to tell him anymore. He said that he would buy me a pregnancy test so it might receive that soon and maybe this is a misunderstanding.

So far I think I'm pregnant. Recently we got together but we never had sex, when I looked on the internet it said its possible to get pregnant without sex.

After that day, my belly has been hurting and the bit just below. I think his semen had leaked through my pants and into my private. I'm very scared as my parents don't know about my boyfriend and are very religious.

My mum might understand this but my dad definitely wouldn't. Even if they would they would be angry at first then after the months go by get better. They would ask me all sorts of questions about how it happened but I don't know how to answer because I'm not even supposed to have a boyfriend. I love my parents very much and want a normal life.

When I think about an abortion it kills me inside! I love babies so much but having one of my own at this age is crazy. I really want to go back to normal but worrying is affecting me. I'm not sure how I'll be able to attend school being pregnant. I don't want anyone to know.

I feel like I should runaway but I can't leave my family, I love them too much. I love my friends too and still want to go to school but NOT pregnant! ;(

That's most of whats happened so far and am extremely worried physically and emotionally, I've been crying about all these questions and things I would have to tell my parents. Runaway and abortion are not options. I have no idea what else to do! Please help.

                      Mia.

                        Re: 13 and pregnant?

                        Hi Mia,

Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline – we’re glad you found us. It’s extremely brave of you to reach out for support during what sounds like a scary time for you! It sounds like all of the potential emotional, social and physical challenges of a possible pregnancy are running through your mind and making you feel understandably stressed. It sounds like you’ve already taken some important steps by talking to your boyfriend and seeing if he can get a pregnancy test. Knowing whether or not you even need to be thinking about abortions or running away is an important first step. You can buy pregnancy tests over the counter at a drug store or the grocery store. If your boyfriend is unable to locate one, is there a way you could get to a store via public transportation, a ride from a friend or by foot/bike? We’re happy to talk through a plan for obtaining a test with you via phone at 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929) or over our online chat service. You may also consider reaching out to Planned Parenthood via their anonymous online chat: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/all-access/chat. A trained health educator will be able to answer some of your health-related questions that aren’t in our expertise here at NRS.

Again, you are so brave for reaching out for support! It’s understandable that you’d be nervous about what could happen if you were pregnant, but you're being so resourceful and thoughtful in seeking support for making a plan. Don’t hesitate to reach out if we can support you further in finding those important answers, and we can go from there.

                        Best of Luck,

                              Im so scared...

Hi. Im 13 and my boyfriend is 14. We love each other a whole lot you have no idea. He has been my best friend sense 2nd grade, and now that we are in middle school we have been dating for 9 months. We are very committed, like no joke. We are both very mature, especially sexually, I was raped as a child, as was he. So we both know so much about sex that we found it just normal and common. What we forgot to think about was the consequences that come from it. Now listen here, we promised each other not to go all the way until we were much older, with proper protection too. What we did in the meantime was just foreplay. He fingered me, but im not sure if sperm was still on his finger from when he did this. After her masterbates i always make sure to have him wipe his hands before fingering me, though who knows what could happen. Now im experiencing symptoms. But only 3. Missed period, cramps, and ive been very hormonal. Though maybe its just bc im stressed. Ive had three anxiety attacks because of this. I dont know what to do at all! I honestly have considered suicide, together along with him. Or running away and giving the baby up. or just an abortion. ik its sad but im just not ready and i will bot bring a baby into the world if its not gunna get the proper care it needs. Please, i dont know what to do. My whole life could be changed forever.

                              E...

                                re: I'm so scared...

                                Hi,

We understand that possibly being pregnant is a scary situation to be in. We aren't doctors at all. In most cases, you do have to have sexual intercourse in order to get pregnant. From what you shared, it sounds like you didn't have actual sexual intercourse. It's a good idea to see a doctor to be sure if you are pregnant or not. Or maybe a pregnancy test would be helpful as well. You could be stressed, you could be experiencing something else. We recommend reaching out to either of those ideas and finding out. You could also call Planned Parenthood for help over the phone. Their number is 1-800-230-7526. But they most likely can't tell you whether or not you are pregnant over the phone. So you would have to take action in person sometime soon. Maybe talking with an adult you trust could be helpful as well. If you are considering suicide, there is the Suicide Lifeline as well if you need someone to talk to. Their number is 1-800-273-8255. We are here if you do need us as well.

                                Take care,
