RE: Pregnant and A runaway
Hi there,
Thank you for getting in touch with NRS, we are glad you are reaching out for support. Whether you are considered a runaway will depend on your age and the legal age you are considered an adult in the state you are in. If you are considered a minor then parents can file a runaway report which will be filed into a national law enforcement database. This means if you come into contact with the police they might take you back home to your parents. However, it should only be law enforcement with access to this information, which means you should be able to go to a hospital without them knowing your runaway status.
As we are not experts on the law we encourage you to contact Legal Aid if you want any more information about runaway laws. You can also speak to someone here at NRS via the live chat or phonelines: 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or on our chat: https://www.1800runaway.org/. We are always happy to talk things through with you and make sure you have all the information and resources you need.
Thank you again for getting in touch and please remember to get in touch if you need anything. All the best.
NRS
