RE: 15 girl needing to get away

Thank you for contacting the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you are going through a lot right now and we’re glad that you chose to reach out to us for assistance. From what you’ve shared, it sounds like you are going through a lot right now, which can be overwhelming. You certainly deserve to live in a place where you can feel safe and supported, and not controlled. We want you to know that we are here to listen and to help. It sounds like you are now thinking about running away and looking for a place to go. One thing that we can do at the National Runaway Safeline is try to locate a safe place for you, such as a shelter. While you mentioned living in North Carolina, it would be helpful to also have the city. Please feel free to call 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We can also discuss what other options you may have available to you, perhaps staying with friends or family. We can also talk about what might happen if you were to leave home. For example, your parents have the option of filing a runaway report. We can talk through with you what that means. Have you talked to your parents about what you were feeling? Have you talked to anyone about what’s going on at home? If you haven’t talked to your parents, or if it doesn’t go well when you try to (things can get pretty emotionally charged sometimes), we might be able to help in facilitating a conversation. One thing we offer here at NRS is conference calling. That means if you were to call into our hotline at 1 800 RUNAWAY, we could make a call out to your mom and/or dad with you on the line with us, so that we could mediate a conversation. This would be an opportunity to let them know how you’ve been feeling with a third party on the line to make sure that the conversation is productive and fair. If you would like to talk further and explore more options, please feel free to reach out to us. Our lines are open 24/7 and can be reached at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We also have a live chat program that is available every day from 4:30 PM until 11:30 PM CT that could be reached through our website www.1800runaway.org. We wish you the best of luck and hope to hear from you soon. ~NRS
