RE: I'm tired.
Hello there –
Thank you so much for reaching out to us here on our public bulletin board. From your post on here, it sounds like you are going through a very difficult time living at home with your mother. It must be very frustrating to be living someplace where you don’t really get treated the way that you deserve to. No one should be constantly threatened to be kicked out of the house. Seems like this happens to frequently that it has become overwhelming and you want to leave home.
Now that you’re 18 years old, we are considered to be an adult in most states. This is true except for sates like Alabama or Mississippi where you have to be older than 18. Since you are now considered a legal adult you are free to move out of your mother’s house without her permission. This is regardless of joint custody. You have stated that you don’t really have a way to get over there to live with your father. Is this something that you have talked to your father about? What are some other ways you can think of to raise/save money to go or some alternatives to getting there that don’t cost too much money? Coming up with a few ideas together with your father might help and make your wish of living over there a little closer.
If you give us a call on our 24/7 hotline at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) we would love to talk to you about your situation and potentially help you brainstorm a possible solution to the issues you are having at home.
