How do I find out if a child has been reported as a runaway?

  • #2
Thank you for reaching out to us at National Runaway Safeline.

There are two ways to see if a youth has been reported as a runaway. The first would be to call the local police. The second would be to call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678. There is no guarantee with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The NCMEC would only know if a child is a runaway if someone called them and added the child to their database.

We hope this information helps. Please feel free to call or chat with us if you have any more questions.

    Stay safe,

    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat which is open every day from 4:30p to 11:30p CST and can be accessed here:
