Re: our house in the woods

Thanks so much for contacting us with your question. You mentioned that you were recently in foster care but signed yourself out at 18 and you have been living with your boyfriend ever since. According to you, it sounds like things are going pretty well and you said that you have been living in an abandoned home in the woods but are afraid that you will be picked up for trespassing.

How have you and your boyfriend been surviving during this time? Does anyone know about where you are living? Do you know if anyone owns the property you are staying on?

Your concerns are definitely understandable, it seems like you want to stay at this place in the woods but don’t want to get into any kind of legal trouble. We are not lawyer’s here by any means so it may be difficult to answer your question. If someone owns the land that you are living on there is a possibility that they could press charges, but of course that would only be if someone knew you were living there.

What would happen if you weren’t able to live there anymore? Do you have any other options of places to stay? Any friends or family you may be able to live with?
If you want to discuss your situation more in depth and even possible options/resources that may be able to help feel free to give us a call at 1-800-RUNAWAY anytime.
