Hello, my name is Abubakar Abdullahi am from northern Nigeria. Please, I need your help. I'm gay, and from the most densely populated Muslim society, I come from a very poor family, a family of three, a senior sister, and a junior sister. Lost my father when in 2013 because of the Book Haram terrorist activities, got only my mother left.
My life here as a gay has many challenges, like you may be aware of is against the Nigerian constitution to be gay or any activities related to LGBTQ.
I got admission into one of the Universities in the US, St. Thomas Aquinas College. Actually, I have three admission letters from different Universities in the US. Funding is a big issue for me. I try a lot of the scholarship websites but got no luck. That's why am writing to you if there are any gay scholarships or gay communities that can help me to fund my education, please.
I learned a lot of handwork, from a solar installation, inverter repairs, Tv mechanics, Gas generator repairs, electric installation, etc. I also learn to repair laptops and desktop computers.
I'm also a member of many NGO groups, like Red Cross Nigeria, United Nations youth, Global citizen, and LGBTQ groups like ISDAO here in Nigeria. I believe in a free world where we can do and speak freely without fear of religion or political fanatics. I believe we all can live in peace when we love one another. I believe in a free world where terrorism has no place in it.
I believe when I come to the USA, all this will be possible. I can go to school and find time to pursue my dreams. Many youths in my community have fear to explore, Boko Haram put fear in us that non of us should embrace western culture or western education. Many of my friends warn me not to try and look for admission in the USA, or anywhere. I should embrace that we are controlled by this terrorist group. I said to myself no risk no reward. At least it is worth trying.
Please, I want you to help me or put me up in a community of LGBTQ where I can find help.
Thanks, Abubakar Abdullahi.
