I want to leave home and almost 18

So, I'm very much not happy at home, my mother threatens to kill herself and other stuff, and I don't fully feel safe. I know my situation isnt too bad, but it feels like she is verbally abusing me. Idk though- I have no clue what verbal abuse really is- I am turning 18 in less than two weeks, am I able to leave and live with one of my boyfriends?

We are very sorry to hear you are having a difficult time at home. You don't deserve to be mistreated and you have every right to feel safe. If you are in immediate danger you could always dial 911. You could also file an abuse report through us or through www.childhelp.org.

You are very close to turning 18, which is the age which you can leave without any legal difficulties. Until then, however, your mom could attempt to file a runaway report if you leave without her permission. But sometimes local police do not accept runaway reports for 17 year olds. The best way to find out for sure is to call the local police non-emergency number and ask them how they would handle a situation like you are describing.
