hey. im 14 going on 15 in febuary and im really getting sick and tired of living here. i want to get enough money to take care of myself and move out. i have a friend in new york who just turned 17 and he lives with some of his 18 year old friends. not that im thinking of living with them but i feel like they would be able to help me out . so if i was to run away i already talked to my friend.but i wouldnt ask to live with them . i would feel like. aburden. theres about 8 of them in the apartment and they all have jobs to pay. for me to get. job i would have to get my work papers signed which would involve my mother . my mother is stressing me out even more then i need to be and she keeps calling my depression fake which is common amongst black families.she alos complains about me being bisexual and how other people keep saying things about me to her.ive thought about making a tiktok account to ask for money to runaway from people. which has been happening recently but im unsure if it will work because alot of people of color dont end up on the main feed (for you page) unless their cute or with someone famous. she also wants to force me to live with my father who i dont have a good past with. she has a court date coming up soon beause of the racist cops in my town messinfg with her. and if she goes to jail shes going to jail for 2 years minimum . not for issues with her past but people doing things with. her car it got put on her record and she was blamed for it. its not that i dont love my mom but its too much. then theres schoool . iim not doing well right now because im a whole month behind. im using t his program called edgenuityt and its so bad if u look it up . and it has so much many bad reviews . they had me in the wrong program for a whole month and a half. and then they keep calling my mom saying that im falling all my classes like its completely my fault. and all she does is yell at me about it and make me work non stop. like its hard. and then as im doing work their addingg contiuous work onto the program which makes it more frusturating.

    Hi there,
Thank you for writing to us here at National Runaway Safeline (NRS). We understand it takes great courage to reach out, and we appreciate you sharing a little bit about what’s going on. It seems there is a lot that you are faced with right now and you’re feeling like leaving is one of your only options. It seems you want to know some information on runaway laws.
While we are not experts on the law, 18 is generally the age that an individual may leave home without parent permission. If you are under 18 and leave home, your parent/guardian may file you as a runaway and you may be returned home. Also, those you stay with may run the risk of being charged with harboring a runaway. For more specifics on the law, the local non-emergency police or legal aid may better answer legal questions.
We are here as support to help through this challenging time. We can best help by phone or chat as NRS is unable to respond more than twice by forum to assist you. If you would like to talk more in detail please call or chat soon.
Our contact information is 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929); www.1800runaway.org (click on the chat button).
If you are at risk of any danger or feeling unsafe, we encourage you to reach out to 911 or seek emergency assistance immediately.
    Be safe,
    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
