current date: 11/09/2020. I turned 17 on October 29th. i got put on probation in august for drug paraphernalia. I was doing good, i tested clean every week, everything was fine. i had gotten a job in April, I was making money, i got to buy my own phone, i payed for my own tattoo. i was getting straight As after 3 years of failing. then i ********ed up again. i drank in September, and pissed dirty. ******** went down at home, i got put back at square one. ive had a couple years of being a ********head and rebelling, a complete punk anarchist dickhead. so its taken alot for my parents to semi trust me. and they started trusting me again. and i completely ********ed up again. i got caught up in my own self hate for the fourth year in a row and now im back into a spiral. After testing dirty in September, i got my phone taken and grounded. after a couple weeks i got everything back because my grades are still good. i ********ing came home drunk on Halloween, was puking everywhere, and had the cops called on me. i blew 2x over the legal limit. im on informal house arrest now. i have a flip phone so i have a way of contacting parents at work. my first day back to work after getting put on house arrest i forgot to call my mom and let her know i got to work. so when i came home i got in trouble for violating my probation, no cops involved, just had to write my court orders 5 times. the next day i had to walk home from work at 9:30 at night and it was snowing, so my boss told me to text her when i got home so she knew i got home safe. "mom" read the texts and told me it was another violation on my probation. these two violations are not on my court orders or my written house arrest agreement, just things that my parents had set down. I over heard them talking and i think they're going to send me to a behavioral facility, or im getting arrested because "they dont know what to do with me." my question is, if i just say ******** it and run away to another state, how bad will my consequences be? should i just tough it out for the last year?

Hi there,
Thank you for writing to us here at National Runaway Safeline (NRS). We understand it takes great courage to reach out, and we appreciate you sharing a little bit about what’s going on. It seems there is a lot that you are faced with right now and you’re feeling like leaving is one of your only options. It seems you want to know some information on runaway laws.
While we are not experts on the law, 18 is generally the age that an individual may leave home without parent permission. If you are under 18 and leave home, your parent/guardian may file you as a runaway and you may be returned home. Also, those you stay with may run the risk of being charged with harboring a runaway. For more specifics on the law, the local non-emergency police or legal aid may better answer legal questions.
We are here as support to help through this challenging time. We can best help by phone or chat as NRS is unable to respond more than twice by forum to assist you. If you would like to talk more in detail please call or chat soon.
Our contact information is 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929); www.1800runaway.org (click on the chat button).
If you are at risk of any danger or feeling unsafe, we encourage you to reach out to 911 or seek emergency assistance immediately.
Be safe,
NRS
