  • i dont want to run away now but maybe later...

i have always thought of running away when my parents got upset at me for grades, my room, or my chores so i thought if it got to too much, i should at least have a plan. i planned i would save enough money to buy a one way ticket to a different country, live under custody of my grandmother, and find a job. i planned so far ahead i'm starting to try to learn the language, save up money for the flight and living, looked up places to live, and searched cheap flights. i just want to know how i would sort this out if i really did it and if i should go with an adult and just stay there. i also have pets so i need to keep that in mind i'd imagine i would try to run away at 16 or 17.

We are glad you reached out to us. It is always good to have a plan and it sounds like you have a good start. There are still a lot of particulars to sort out and options to consider. We would like to help you with that planning process and also discuss options to try and make things as good as possible in your current situation with your parents. It sounds very challenging with your parents and it can be very lonely and overwhelming dealing with grades and chores. We can help you talk through the details of the logistics and what would be the safest and most secure for you. It can be tricky starting a new living situation near home where you are the most familiar and there could be a lot more challenges to consider in another country. It is difficult to help you sort this out without knowing the details of your situation. There are many options we can discuss with you on our 24/7 phone hotline at (800) RUNAWAY or on an online chat at
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
