  • How far will the cops go to look for me if I run away and can I take my car?

I'm 16 years old and live in California, but I'm planning to leave the state first thing. I've been wanting to run away for years for reasons I don't want to get into. I'm miserable at home. I have a car that me and my siblings are supposed to share, but my sister left now and my brother doesn't drive. I thought I'd take it so I could bring more stuff with me and I wouldn't have to sleep on the street. I was wondering if I took the car it would be reported as stolen, and then would they actively search for me? I don't have my license yet, but I know how to drive. I'm hoping to get emancipated eventually but I can't stay here for any more months. The situation has gotten a lot worse. Also I have a history of substance abuse and mental illnesses and have been hospitalized for 'suicidal behavior' (it wasn't actually but whatever) So since I'm an 'at risk youth' would it become more of a priority to search for me? I want to stay as undetectable as possible, but I don't want to be homeless especially since there is a much easier option. If I brought my phone, could that be tracked? I wiped all the data, removed the sim card, and turned off all location services and wifi. I also don't have any social media. I think it would be helpful in an emergency, or just as a kind of safety blanket I guess, but I don't know. Depending on the risk involved I might have to leave that too. Anyway, any help would be very much appreciated as I'm very scared and confused.
