    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to us; we are glad that you did. It sounds like things at home are really stressful for you and that you want to run away.
You can call your local police non-emergency line and ask them about their runaway protocol for 17 year-olds. The difficulty is that no matter what they say, the law is that you can be returned home until age 18. It does help that you are so close to 18, but if your parents push it, the police may make a runaway report.
If you did leave, you’d have to leave the car behind since it belongs to your parents, otherwise it is a felony theft if you were charged. We can talk about all of this, since it sounds like you are really working to think this all through.
You can also reach out to us so that we can talk it all over together. You can call us at 1800-786-2929 or access our live chat via www.1800runaway.org We are here for you 24/7 to discuss all of you options.
We hope to hear from you soon,

    Sincerely, NRS

I’m 17 My parents and I don’t agree on anything anymore I have a job to support myself. We get in arguments all the time now I have a car in their name but I don’t have to take it with me if I was to leave. I was wondering if St. John’s county Florida looks into 17 year old runaways, because I don’t want to leave and be forced to go back home and face the backlash from it. I have a place to stay I have everything thought out I just can’t come back if I leave. So I’m trying to make sure that I don’t come back
