I'm 16 right now but in a month I'll be turning 17. I want to run away again on my 17th birthday, but will the police look for me? I live in corpus christi, Texas.

Re: Leaving home at 17
Hello and thanks for reaching out on our forum. It sounds like you're planning to run away on your 17th birthday and are wondering if the police will look for you. We are not legal experts; however, we do recognize that some states such as Texas view 17 as more of a gray area than others. For example, your local law enforcement may take a runaway/missing juvenile report, but do not always actively search for older youth. Your local police or sheriff's department may be able to give you more information on how they handle 17 year-old runaways. If you would like help contacting them, feel free to reach out to us directly first. Or, you could try calling (361)886-2600 which is the non-emergency line for the Corpus Christi Police Department. Hopefully this helps and best of luck! Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
