  • Continuing high school after leaving parents

So I plan on helping one of my friends get out of their emotionally abusive home as soon as they turn 18, which is when the automatic emancipation law takes effect for them, one way or another. The problem is that they would be about two months into their senior year when I do. They are home schooled with an online school thing so I think he can continue through that. But if not, is there any way for him to continue high school in Florida? We have every intention to prevent/drop all contact with his parents afterwards so anything needing/involving them is highly undesirable.

    Hello,

Thanks for contacting us. It seems like you are concerned for a way that your friend can continue going to school after they leave home. We actually aren't legal experts so we don't know how it works in each state. You may want to check with the schools in Florida to see if there are any limitations to going to school as an 18 year old. Probably the school board locally would have that information.

    Best of luck,
    NRS
