  • I hate it here and I can’t live here anymore

My parents are too strict. im 13 and they treat me like I’m 5. I can’t go out with friends and they make me clean everything everywhere. Everything is always my fault. My dad has really bad anger issues and it’s scary. He has a look and it scares me. I’m now terrified of my parents. When he yells I shake. He asks why I lash out and yell back sometimes and blames everything on me. I’ve explained my issues with my guy best friend and he’s talked to his parents and they are ok with me living with them. Is there any legal way I can without my parents permission?

    Hello.
Thank you for reaching out to us. We’re sorry to hear you’re having a difficult time with your parents. It must be awful to feel like that when you’re around your father. You don’t deserve to be treated like that.
But it’s great that you have a friend you trust that you can talk to about these issues, and that his parents are supportive of getting you help.
We’re not legal experts, but living in a home other than your parents’ usually requires their permission. But there are some things you can do to improve your situation. Have you spoken directly to your friend’s parents to see if they have any ideas? In addition, have you spoken to a counselor at school about the situation? They’re there to help make sure students are living in a supportive environment. If you don’t know the counselor well, you can always speak with a teacher or other member of the school staff to help you talk to the right person.
If there’s been any abuse by your parents, you can call Child Help at 1-800-422-4453 or chat with them at https://www.childhelp.org/childhelp-hotline/. You can also visit www.childhelp.org to learn more about what defines abuse and what help you may be able to get.
We also encourage you to call us at 1-800-RUNAWAY or chat with us at 1800runaway.org. We’re available 24/7 and can help you talk through the situation more and discuss other options you may have.
We’re sorry you’re going through this right now, but you did the right thing in reaching out! You deserve better. And we’re ready to help if we can.
    All our best
