  • Im 17 and 4 months pregnant and my dad wants me to have an abortion help!

I was kicked out by my dad in may because he found out i am pregnant
i had called the arcola police department to let them know he had kicked me out.
And they told me to seek a family member of friend who could help me
so i told them i was moving in with my boyfriend.
I moved in with him and he works pays all the bills, and we have a notarized letter showing he pays
his dad rent for the room we live in his house.
Two arcola police and my dad showed up at 8:00 am yesterday morning at my boyfriends house i answered the door and they barged in and forced
to go back home and they took me back to my dads. I let them know i did not feel safe going back home and they still took me anyway. What can i do to get emancipated?

RE: Im 17 and 4 months pregnant and my dad wants me to have an abortion help!

    Hello There!
Thanks for reaching out to us at the National Runaway Safeline. It is a great first step to find the help and information that you may need. It sounds like you are going through a tough time with your father and being home. We are sorry to hear about this, but you can get through this. You are not alone. It is great that you have the support of your boyfriend. We are also here 24/7 at 1800-RUNAWAY to talk more if you would like to.
Expecting a child is not always easy to navigate, but it seems like you are staying strong so far after telling your dad. Getting the proper prenatal care is also important. You can always go to a clinic in your area to get the care that you and your child need or you can go to https://www.plannedparenthood.org/ to get more information on this or locate a clinic. We are not legal experts here, but typically being a certain trimester or a being a certain length of pregnancy, abortion may not be an option that your dad has to make. You can also get more information on this via a clinic, your current doctor, or the link above.
You mentioned some interest in emancipation. Typically this is not an immediate process. It is a legal process that can take some time and be rather costly as possibly needing legal aid can be. Generally each state has their own requirements or guidelines needed to be met before filling this petition. However, there are a few aspects states have in common such as needing parental support since it is essentially taking the parents’ rights away from your father or being able to provide for yourself independently. If you wanted more information on this or to find some legal resources, you can always call us at 1800-RUNAWAY

    Best Wishes,
    NRS

So I'm 15 and my girlfriend is pregnant we didn't mean to become parents, so is 4 months pregnant and we are scared to tell our patients about it because both of us might get kicked out or force us to abort the baby. We are getting attached to the kid and I don't want to lose him. What do I do? If we do get kicked out can we rent a room for both of us?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to us for help.

It sounds like you and your girlfriend are in a tough situation, and have the same worries. You and your girlfriend may be feeling scared and nervous right now, so we’re happy you came to us for help. If you are fearful of an abortion, neither of your parents can legally force your girlfriend to have an abortion. You and your girlfriend may consider going to a clinic to find more information on the legality of abortion. To learn more about what options you have, you might also consider visiting www.plannedparenthood.org, or calling them at 1800-230-7526. Planned Parenthood can help you with family planning. As for being kicked out, we have many resources we can provide to both you and your girlfriend. So if you are in need of a place to stay, we can definitely help find housing. We understand that the both of you are going through a very difficult time right now, which is why we hope to hear from you soon either through chat or call.

Thank you again, and good luck.
