  • Pre-emptive law enforcement call?

Hello, my friend is planning on running away at a set date around a specific time. I intend to call the cops the day of, but at a time prior so it would be impossible to facilitate his escape from as he puts it, a hopeless situation. Would that be legal in West Virginia? Thanks.

Thank you for reaching out to us. It sounds like you really care about your friend’s safety and want to make sure he will be ok. You sound like you are concerned if calling the police and reporting a runaway is legal. Yes, you can report a runaway but if he hasn’t actually left the home yet then it may not be much the police can do. If you have any other questions or concerns, you can always contact us at 1800-Runaway. Best of luck!
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
