I have a pretty good relationship with my parents. The only issues we have are on differing opinions. I've been smoking weed since I was 15 and after my mom finding stuff in her house multiple times I stopped bringing it home, but I didnt stop smoking. Honestly that's the only problem I have with my parents and I don't even really think it can be a problem anymore since I turned 18 last week. I want to run away because I feel like I can't live the life I want to in the same house as my mom. And moving in with my dad wouldn't be bad but I just want to leave and be on my own. I want to finish high school, just under a different roof. Both of my parents (although they're divorced) teach at the school I go to. They pay for insurance on my car and phone and I guess the food I eat but everything else I pay for just because I dont want to be dependent. I dont really know I just need to get out of my house and be on my own but I dont want that to ruin my family relationships. I still want to go to college I think but if this determines whether i get their help or not, then i dont know. Sorry I dont have any specific questions, I just feel stuck and want advice.

Hello There,
Thank you for reaching out to The National Runaway Safeline, and sharing your story with us. It is grat that you have a good relationship with your parents.
It can be hard to want to do things your parents do not approve of and still be living under their roof and having them help pay for things. One option to consider is to finish high school while living at home and try and save money. Another option to consider is to see if you would be able to stay with any family members or friends.
We hope this information will be helpful to you in your situation. If you have any more questions or would like to explore more options please give us a call. We are here 24/7 to listen and to provide support. Best of luck!
