Hello! Thank you so much for reaching out to us! We want you to know that you are not alone, we’re here to help with whatever we can.
Although we aren’t legal experts, your guardians can file a runaway report with the police. Whoever you end up staying with, whether their family or not, could get in trouble for harboring a runaway. An option might be to reach out to your local non-emergency number for further clarification, of what age you can leave home. If you decide you want to leave on your own, we don’t want you to be unsafe, so you can text the National Safe Place the word SAFE and your location at 44357. They would let you know the nearest safe place and seek out resources to better assist you.
Again, we’re really glad you were able to seek help through our agency. It takes a lot for ask for help, and you are trying to figure out your options which is really good to see. If you would like to talk further, you can reach out to us via phone at 1800-786-2929, or our chat services at www.1800runaway.org. Best of luck!
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
