Welcome to the National Runaway Safeline Forum. Here you can post your questions, thoughts, and concerns about what it's like to be a teenager or a parent. If there's something you've been wondering about, please ask. Chances are good that a lot of other people have been wondering the same thing.
PLEASE NOTE: We are receiving more crisis contacts than usual right now. Our replies to forum posts may be delayed but we will respond to your questions as soon as we are able. Please check back frequently for updates!
Thank you for posting to our online forum. It sounds like you feel your boyfriend and his parents’ home is more supportive. In almost all states, the age of majority or the age you are considered an adult is 18. Only Mississippi, Alabama, and Nebraska have a different age of majority. Usually this means that you can decide where you live. Maybe calling your non-emergency police or a legal aid office would be able to give you more specific information about the law in your area. We can look up that information for you if you call our 24 hour hotline or chat with us online.
Please call us if you would like to discuss your situation in more detail.
Best of luck,
NRS
