I am 16 and live with my mother in washington, she is very mentally abusive and makes me contemplate suicide almost daily i don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t know if i can move out as soon as possible without being emancipated. My older sister who is 21 has been trying to help me move out but my mom won’t let me. What do I do?

Hi there, thanks for posting here. It sounds like home is taking a real toll on you mentally. We are glad you reached out for help!
You mentioned thinking of suicide every day. We are very concerned about your safety. We are here by phone and live chat 24/7: 1-800-786-2929. There is also the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and they are also 24/7 by phone and online chat: 1-800-273-8255, suicidepreventionlifeline.org.
If you are ever in immediate, life-threatening danger, you can always call 911 and they can send someone to check on you in person. Going to the nearest emergency number is also an option.
You mentioned an older sister. Perhaps she could look into getting custody of you if the home is unsafe. Child Help (1-800-422-4453, childhelp.org) can help with getting information and support for abuse, reporting if you want to, and getting custody transferred to a safe adult. We can also help you report the abuse if that is something you want to do. If not, we are always anonymous and confidential so you can also call or chat us without providing your name and info and do so confidentially.
If you leave without your mom's permission, she is able to file a runaway report on you with police, so you may consider if that is something she would do if you left.
Reaching out and talking about this stuff is really challenging and takes a lot of strength. We are here to help. Reach out anytime! Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
