14 year old needs advice

hello, i was just wondering if i could get advice. im 14 and at home my father is putting his hands on me.. no one will listen to me as my dad used to be a foster parent. i want to run away. i live in ontario. and i am wiling to go stay with either my mother or my brother. do i have the right to go stay with an immediate family member in ontario at the age of 14

We’re really sorry to hear about what is happening at home with dad. It sounds like it’s been really hard for you. We want you to know that abuse of any kind is NOT ok and it is NEVER your fault. It takes a lot to ask for help and we think you’re showing a lot of courage asking today.

Unfortunately we are based in the US, we can’t really speak to the law surrounding minors leaving home without parental permission in Canada. Have you talked to your mother about this move? It might be easy to do if she is your legal guardian. If not, it’s hard to say what you’d need to do. She might want to speak to a lawyer to see if she has the right to keep you at her home. You could try calling in here at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) and we can explore your situation and see if there is anything we can help you with.
