  • Probation Violation

I know a guy who's in a bad situation. He lived in the state of CA and served his time for a committed crime. He was to serve 3 years on probation, but during his probationary time he was homeless, lost his guardian, had no money, had mentally challenged parents who were not capable of taking care of him and no relatives available to take him in. The only thing he knew was the street life. He wanted to change tremendously and so he asked to move to another state and the P.O. declined him to move. So he moved anyway to another state and violated his probation. He has been doing very well with having a job for over 3 years, a place to stay and a business of his own.......what will happen to him in the end? What should he do?

    RE: Probation Violation

Thanks for reaching out to us for help. It sounds like your friend is in a very difficult situation. We are not legal experts. It sounds like your friend is doing well right now, but he violated his probation and is not sure what to do next. That sounds like a very difficult situation. We are here to listen and support you or your friend however we can. Laws are different depending on what state you live in and what the terms of probation are. Our services are primarily for runaway and homeless youth, but you can call us directly any time or pass our number along and try to talk through some options, but we cannot say what will happen to your friend in the future and we are not here to tell anyone what to do. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon, and wish you the best of luck.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
