My new family has a court order saying i can leave my moms house and move in with my new mom i am 16 years old they have to have the marshall there in order to take me out but it is hard to get one at this point. I have been arguing with my mom for a while and nothing seems to be helping in the court order it says i was being abused but nobody listens to me i live in york count but i am planning on moving to adams county. That is the county i want to move to i am engaged and i want to get emancipated but i don't know how much it would cost and also if i can have a form online for york county. I don't know if i can get emancipated in adams when i live in york and still be legal. I do not feel safe living with my mom i have been in the hospital a lot for multiple reasons and also a few suicide reasons one time i was in the hospital for 4 weeks. I was home one day and my mom never asked me if i wanted anything to eat so i didn't eat all day and she would yell at me if i dirty a dish up and then if i wash it she would take it out and wash it again cause she said i don't wash it right.I am in 11th grade right now and planning on doing cyber if i moved out i am going to be working on a farm with my fiance to earn money for a house and also my bills.I am able to take care of my self get food and ect. I am wondering if there is any other way where i can get emancipated and also if there is a way where i can move out of my moms house legally cause noone wants to listen to me

RE: Leaving home at 16 !!!!
Hello there -
Thanks for writing to us here at the National Runaway Safeline with your concerns. From your online post on our forum, we can see that you have very similar questions to a lot of our callers and you’re looking for some answers. We are always here to listen and here to help in any way that we can. It can be very frustrating not knowing what to do or what your next step might be from this point on.
The only way that you will be removed from your parents’ custody legally is if you report any abuse that was happening at home and there was an investigation or if you filed for emancipation (every state is different, but you have to be 16 years or older). Those are the only two ways that you can legally leave your home. If you were looking into emancipation we can give you some general knowledge of that process. Those laws regarding emancipation are different in every state, so we can’t tell you exactly how it works. What we know is that getting emancipated by the court is a process that does take a while (about 6 months or a year). There also needs to be proof that the youth is able to support him or herself on their own and in some cases they will need to have their parents’ permission to get emancipated. For more specific details on what you would need in order to file for emancipation you will probably have to contact your local juvenile court and speak with a lawyer. You can also resource your states bar association to find a lawyer that handles emancipation cases. Once you do that you can try file a “Petition for Emancipation.”
If you give us a call on our 24/7 hotline at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) we could help you find resources in your area and could potentially help you brainstorm a possible solution to the issues you are having. It might also be the time to talk about possible consequences to leaving or trying to file for emancipation. We would love to talk to you about what has been going on recently that is making you want to leave home. We also have an online chat service available every day.
Hope this information helps! Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
