  • I'm 14 and I want to runaway

My parents make me feel stupid and unwanted. They hurt my feelings with their words, I just can't take it anymore so I'm gonna run away . I don't know when though.

Thanks for reaching out to us for help. It sounds like you are in a really tough situation. You do not deserve to be made to feel stupid or unwanted. We are sorry to hear that they hurt your feelings. We are here to listen and support you in any way that we can. It sounds like you are considering running away. It is understandable that you are having these thoughts. Since you are under the age of 18, if you leave home you could be considered a runaway. This means that your parent or legal guardian could call the police, who might force you to return home. Running away is not a crime, however anyone who allows you to stay with them could risk criminal charges for harboring a runaway. If you need to talk through your situation with somebody, we can help go through all your options and help you make a plan for staying safe. It can help to talk to someone about what is happening. We are looking forward to your call, and wish you the best of luck.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
