  • What I can take and how much help can I receive while running away?

The parents that I live with are extreamly toxic. They are a lot of the reason I have bad mental problems. I am 17 and I want to be leaving home very soon. I live in Ontario Canada. I know that I can run away legally and I have the right to do so. However I do not know how much I am entitled to take away from this house I live in nor do I know how much helpI can accept from the home I wish to run to.
Answers to this ASAP would be amazing.
    Thank you

    Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out to us here at NRS, it shows a lot about who you are and that is something to be proud of. It sounds like you have a lot going on at home. It must be hard to go through this but it sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you want to do about it and have somewhere that you feel safe to go to. We are not legal experts so we cannot guarantee any legal information. We are also a primarily United States organization. This means that there is not much we can do for you in terms of resources, however if you would like to talk through things you are always more than welcome to call or chat with us. In terms of your situation, something that may help is calling your local police station and asking them about your situation but in general terms. This way they may be able to answer your question to the best of their ability but not know who it is about.
It sounds like you have a decent idea of what you want to do. If there is anything you may want to just talk about, maybe the situation going on, you are always more than welcome to reach out to us, but we are not able to provide any resources.

    Best of luck,
    NRS
