I'm 12 years old and have depression. But all my friends and parents didn't care about it and just ignored it. And I being bullied at school and everyone talk behind me. Even my friends. And my parents are too strict and they'll punish me if I fail my exam. Is it illegal for 12 years old children to run away?(in Malaysia)

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to write to us here at the National Runaway Safeline.
It sounds like you are in a difficult situation, and we understand it takes courage to reach out for help.
The National Runaway Safeline is located in the United States of America (USA). Our knowledge of helpful community based resources and our understanding of youth in crisis related laws is limited to the USA.
Since you are located in a country outside of the USA, you can use these links to find a youth helpline in or around your country: http://www.childhelplineinternationa...where-we-work/
You don’t deserve to be bullied by anyone. We’re sorry that you are in this situation but it’s not your fault.
We hope that by reaching out to a local resource, you are able to get the support you need from an organization that understands the laws and circumstances that affect youth in your country.
Take care,
NRS

Hi there, thanks for reaching out today.
Sounds like you are wondering if you would still be considered a runaway at age 18. Generally, no, once you turn 18 you are usually considered an adult and there are not usually legal consequences. However, that depends on your state laws so you might make sure that 18 is the majority age in the state you reside in.
We hope this information helps.
Please call or chat us if you would like to talk through your situation: 1-800-RUNAWAY; www.1800runaway.org We are 24/7, confidential, non-directive, non-judgmental and here to help.
Best,
NRS
