Re: help
Hi there,
We’re sorry to hear you’re going through a rough time right now. Just so you know, we aren’t legal experts so you we can’t really say what might happen to you in your specific situation. We can say, however, that running away in itself is not a crime but it is a status offense. Unless there is some other piece to your specific situation you haven’t mentioned, you can’t go to jail simply for running away. However, you can be picked up by police and detained till your guardian comes to get you.
We’d like to help out further but need a little more information from you. The best way we can help is if you give us a call at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We can help you figure out what your options are. We also have a large database of resources, things like shelters, legal aid, counselors, and so forth. We hope to hear from you soon!Good luck! Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
