  • Running Away/Moving Out

I'm 20 and I'm going through so much. Since I'm legally an adult, it isn't considered running away. I want to start a new life but I don't have that much money after I buy a plane ticket. I'm scared to do it alone though. Can anyone help me or maybe want to go with me please?

    RE: Running Away/Moving Out

Thanks for posting on the National Runaway Safeline forum.

It sounds like you’re planning a big change in your life! That can be really exciting but also cause some stress and anxiety, especially since you’ve set out to do it alone. While it might be scary, it can also be a good experience. We just want to make sure you’re safe in your plan and have thought about all the details. If you wanted to, you could call us here at 1-800-786-2929 and we can talk about what it might look like to relocate somewhere new and start a life there. You also mentioned that you’re going through a lot right now. It might help to talk to someone about that too, we’re here to listen!

Also, we can’t recommend you take a trip with a stranger, but it might be fun to find a friend who would want to travel with you. Can you think of anyone in your life that would be willing to come with you, even if they just tagged along for the ride?
Best of luck with your plan! Please feel free to call us to talk about your plan!

    Take care,

Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
