Re: teen in need of help & advice!

    Hell there,

Thank you for posting on our forum. You are very brave for reaching out and we hope that we can provide you with some information that can be of help. It’s understandable that you are feeling stressed and it’s good that you are looking as to what your options are.

It is not okay that your parents have threatened you. They are not allowed to hurt for any reason and you don’t deserve to be put in a position where you are afraid they will put their hands on you. We’re glad to hear that your fiance is so supportive of you through these difficult times.

In regards to emancipation, that is certainly an option you can look into, but it may be important to note that the emancipation process can take several months. With you being two months away from turning 18, other options might be worth considering in your situation. We would be happy to look up some legal resources.

One resource you may find useful for finding more information about your rights as a pregnant teen is this site: http://sexetc.org/action-center/sex-in-the-states/. Planned parenthood may also be a good resource if you have additional questions about rights related to pregnancy. Their hotline is 1-800-230-7526. Please know that no one has the right to harm you. No one has the right to force you to get an abortion and it is your right to see a doctor for your pregnancy.

If your parents harm you or don’t let you receive proper care, you also have the option of reporting this to Child Protective Services. We understand that can be a really intimidating process and you can always call us to talk it through. We can also help by helping you to make a report if that is what you decide to do.

We thank you again for reaching out to us. We hope this information is useful and we encourage you to contact us directly if you want to continue discussing some of these options.

    Stay strong,
    NRS
