RE: forced alcohol intake and wanting to runaway
Hello,
Thank you for contacting the National Runaway Safeline.
This sounds like a very difficult situation, we’re really glad you came to us for help. Your girlfriend is very lucky to have a partner like you that would try to help them. You’ve taken a very mature and brave step in this process.
The things you described sound awful. How old is your girlfriend? While we are not legal experts here, generally speaking it is considered a statute offense to leave home if you are a minor. Her parents could file a police report and have her returned to their home. Also, if she were to stay with you or a friend, whoever is letting her stay there could be charged with harboring a runaway. This isn't always the case since the law can vary city to city, but if you called your local police to make sure they could clear that up for you.
You mentioned your girlfriend is being hurt both physically and emotionally. She could file a police report with your local law enforcement. If she doesn’t feel comfortable doing that on her own, she can call us for help in how to get this done.
We really hope this helps. If you or your girlfriend need any more support, please don't hesitate to call 1-800-Runaway. We also have a live chat service on the website.
All the best,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
