Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you’re going through a rough time right now and we’re sorry to hear that.
We aren’t legal experts, but we can speak in generalities. If you were to run away and your parents were to file a runaway report for you, the police could return you home if they find you. However, each police department will have different ways they handle run away reports, so your best option is to call your local police and ask them what they would do.
We’re also sorry to hear that you’ve attempted suicide in the past. Your life is very important. If you begin having those thoughts again and want to talk with someone anonymously, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help. One resource that might work for you is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You can reach them at 1-800-273-8255. They also have an internet chat function through their website at suicidepreventionlifeline.org.
If you ever want anyone to talk to you about what you’re experiencing, whether it’s thoughts about suicide or about running away, you can also call us at 1-800-RUNAWAY. We are here 24/7 to listen. We wish you luck with everything you’re going through. Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
