  • 16 year old looking to be emancipated (long serious post)

I am a 16 year old cis-female (though I am not allowed to identify as Non-Binary, I will get into this later in the post) and I am looking to get emancipated. My reasons? Let me list them
    1.) Physical abuse
My parents (mainly my mom) have been abusive for as long as I can remember, and claimed that they are punishments. I have been left with slaps to the face, welts on my behind and back of my thighs, hands, arms, (basically everywhere) and it still happens to this day.
    2.) Gender Identity
I have been thinking about my gender for quite awhile now, and I have decided to identify as non-binary. I have subtly brought up homosexuality with my mother, and she reacts poorly to the idea. I wish to cut my hair and dress as my self-assigned gender, and refuses to let me do so, and this is very stressful to me, as I feel wrong in this body already, and the clothes and the hair could help with the gender dysphoria.
    3.) Education
I am currently in online school and my grades are dropping at a terrifying rate due to lack of stimulation. I wish to return to public school, but she will not let me, and if I am emancipated, I will be able to unenroll myself from online school, and enroll myself into the public school of my choice. I have little interaction with people who are not related to me, and I have zero friends, and I feel very isolated, and when I ask about joining clubs, or making friends, my mother refuses to let me interact with people my age.
    4.) Career
I wish to pursue a career in the music industry, and to do so, I need to interact with people, and sign up for performances, and try to get my face into the public eye. I am not allowed to have social media, or talk to people my age (as shown above) I want to put myself out there and I am not allowed to do so.

I have been looking into this for a very long time, and I want to go through with it. My only concern is pricing for lawyers, petitions, etc. I fear that if I pursue this, and lose the case, my conditions will worsen, and so will my mental state. I am willing to put the funds and effort into this case. I want to put in my petition some time next year (Nearing September 2019), since me nearing the age of 17 will hopefully help my case. I just want to know if these reasons are legit, and good reasons, and I don't seem like a whiny teenager. I am not doing this to spite them, I love my parents, but living with them is hurting me physically, emotionally, and mentally. I don't know how long it will be till I do something rash in desperation, and I am really trying to keep my head on.
    Thank you for reading this.

Hello! Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline! It sounds like you are going through a rough and stressful time. You deserve to fee l safe and secure in your own home. It is not okay that you are experiencing physical abuse. No one should be treating you that way. If you wanted, you could reach out to the National Child Abuse hotline. Their number is 1(800)-422-4453. They can better help you with questions you may have regarding abuse and options you have regarding it.
It seems like you are not being supported in your own home for who you are. It was brave of you to try to bring that up to your mom. You deserve to feel accepted and loved no matter who you are. There are a couple resources you could call regarding this. The first is The Trevor Project. Their number is 1(866)-488-7386. A second resource is LGBT National Hotline. Their number is 1(88-843-4564. A third resource is the LGBT National Youth hotline. Their number is 1(800)-246-7743. All three of these resources can help you answer questions you may have, provide support, and find other local resources for you.
