I am pansexual and 13 and all my best friends know I am. I have homophobic Islamic parents and I asked my mom what she would do if she had a daughter who was into girls.. she said she'll kick her out. I don't know my father's point of view, the only thing I know is that he may be as well since once when I brought up being transgender up he denied it being in existence and I quote "we don't talk about those things." I never like being around them in general and I feel heartless that I'm trying to love them when I know they'll probably end up hating me. And I also feel heartless for not loving them enough... What to do?

Hi there thanks for reaching out to us today, us here at the National Runaway Safeline are here to listen and help as best as we can. From what you shared, it sounds like you are in a very difficult and scary situation at home and we are very glad you reached out. We are going to talk about a few things and if you want to reach out again, we are here 24/7 at 1-800-RUNAWAY and we have an online chat system at 1800runaway.org.
You shared you are pansexual and your parents are not accepting of you and we are sorry to hear that. It must have taken a lot of strength to talk to your friends and try to talk to your parents which is very brave. You deserve to be accepted and love who you love. It is not okay for your parents to say they will kick you out for liking girls. We aren’t legal experts, but if you are kicked out that can be considered neglect and you have the right to call the police because your parents are legally responsible for you until you turn the age of adulthood, usually 18. We are always here for you if you are in crisis and have been kicked out or even before then if you want to talk or brainstorm some things.
You deserve to be accepted for who you are and you do not have to go through this alone. The LBGTQ+ National Youth Talkline (1-800-246-7743/https://www.glbthotline.org/talkline.html) is a telephone, online private one-to-one chat and email peer-support, as well as factual information and local resources for cities and towns across the United States. They are supportive and are there to talk about coming-out issues, relationship concerns, parent issues, school problems, and even more. We are also always here for you because we truly care for you and would love to talk if you are comfortable.

We are very glad you reached out and it sounds like you are in a very scary situation and we are always going to be here for you. Don’t hesitate to call or chat us and we hope to hear from you soon!
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
