I'm 15 and I live in Georgia. I recently started seeing this guy who's 17 and we've been talking for a while. He's planning on moving back to California once he turns 18, and by that time I'll be 16. I want to go with him because there's too much chaos in my house. It's me, my father, his girlfriend and the of my siblings. My dad's girlfriend recently had a baby about a month ago and everything has just been downhill from there. No one has a job, or a consistent source of income and my education is suffering. My question is how can I free my self from the situation without messing up the entire household?

Hello There,
Thank you for reaching out to The National Runaway Safeline, we know it takes strength to reach out and we are glad you decided to share some of your story with us. It sounds like you are going through a difficult situation right now. You mentioned that you and your boyfriend have been talking for a while, have you met him in person yet? You may want to consider meeting your boyfriend in person if you haven’t done so already before going with him to California. You also mentioned that your education is suffering, which is understandable with the situation you are going through. You may want to consider telling a school counselor or a trusted teacher your situation and they may be able to help you get back on track with school. That is another thing you may want to think about before going to California is your school. If you are under the age of 18 and are not attending school you could get in trouble for truancy, it is best to ask your school exactly what could happen if you were to miss school. If you would like you may call us and we can look up some shelters in your area if being at home gets to be too much. We hope this information is beneficial to you in your situation. We wish you the best of luck! If you would like to discuss more about your situation we are available 24/7 so feel free to give us a call or chat with us.
