I'm 16 years old, just barely, and I've been majorly depressed for at least the past 3 years, I've tried to commit suicide before and right now, I don't know how much longer I can take it. My parents have always emotionally damaged me, sometimes physically, and it all just adds up to where I'm not sure if I'm going to wake up the next day because I have so many suicidal thoughts. I've told my parents that I've tried to commit, they told me that they weren't going to find counseling for me because I needed to do it myself. I was 12, maybe 13 when that happened. They always put me down and I feel as though they never wanted me as a daughter, because I'm not the best daughter. I get in trouble for the most simplest things and I'm always on the edge now, I snap easily. I cant move out until I graduate high school, I'm only a junior. I've tried to go to a school where I can finish my last two years in one year and my dad wouldn't let me. The only place I can even think of going, if I ran away, is my boyfriend's, but thats too obvious. He's beyond worried about me, he's scared something is going to happen and he won't be able to do anything about it. He's in the army and has been at basic training since June (he broke his hand and he won't be back until December, its a long story). My life got considerable better after I met him, I wasn't as depressed because I wasn't home as much, I was always with him. Now, I dont really go anywhere, I'm always at home, and my depression is ever worse than it was before I met my boyfriend. I've started self-harming and I managed to stop for a while but this big fight happened last night between my parents and I and I cut again. I'm afraid to go home right now, I'm terrified. They took my phone, my license, and my school computer can only be used at school and at home if I have homework, but my mom has to sit right next to me and watch me. I don;t have a job, I'm trying to find one, I can't provide for myself. I have around 80 bucks left from my birthday. I just don't know what I can do anymore. I have no idea how much longer I can take this.

RE: I'm 16 and I need to move out of my parent's house.
Thank you for reaching out to us. It takes a lot of bravery and strength to reach out for help. It sounds like you are really suffering with depression right now. We are sorry to hear about the abuse you are suffering. Nobody deserves to be abused, and you have a right to get help for your suicidal thoughts. If you are feeling suicidal right now, the National Suicide Lifeline could be a great resource for you. Check out www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org or call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) for support 24/7. We are here to listen and support you in any way that we can, and you can call us 24/7 as well. It sounds like you are also struggling with self-harm and cutting. Here at NRS, our primary concern is always your safety. We are glad to hear that your boyfriend is a good source of support for you. It sounds like you are worried about returning home today, but you don’t know where to go. We can help you find somewhere to go and talk through all your options. You have a right to report the abuse that has happened in your home, and we can talk to you about what that involves and even make a report on your behalf if that is what you want to do. We can also help you find resources for counseling as well. Since you are under the age of 18, if you leave home you could be considered a runaway. This means that your parents could call the police, who might force you to return home. Running away is not a crime, however anyone who allows you to stay with them could risk criminal charges for harboring a runaway. We are here to help in any way that we can, and we understand that you have good reasons for not wanting to go home. We can work with you to find an option that works for you. Please do not hesitate to give us a call 24/7. You might consider asking your school counselor if you can use the phone to call us, or reaching out to them for help as well. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon, and wish you the best of luck. Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
