  • Moving out

I make $1000 every 2 weeks graduated highschool at 16 and run my own business and own a truck. I’m tryna move out as soon as I turn 17, is this possible considering what I’ve done? I live in Grand Prairie Texas

    Hi,
Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you’ve done a lot of great things in your life so far, which is something to be proud of. To our knowledge, you would still need parental consent to leave home before you are 18, otherwise your parents could file a runaway report and if the police find you they may return you home. Another option is to file for emancipation. Usually the requirements for emancipation involve demonstrating financial and emotional independence, which it sounds like you have. However since we are not legal experts, you would need to speak to a lawyer for more information about this possibility.
Thank you again for reaching out. We hope this was helpful and we encourage you to reach out by phone if you need additional resources or need help figuring out your options. Our number is 1-800-786-2929 and our lines are always open. If you have a moment, we'd appreciate your feedback of our crisis services at the following link:
