Hi there, so I'm having a lot if issues at home with emotional abuse and parents openly disowning me. I've planned to run away and have a place to stay. However there are a few holes in my plan that I was wondering you could help me resolve.

1. I know im entitled to my education due to the McKinney-vento act, but I was wondering if there is a number I could call to figure out the proper steps to get enrolled (I'm heading to Eugene, Oregon) if you could get me the number that would be great =)
2. I would be wanting to get a job to help out around the house with funds. If I applied at a small, non-chain business, would they do a background check on me to the extent that they would find out I was a runaway? And if they did find out, would they report me?
3. Lastly how far away will police be searching? I'm staying in my home state and the town I'm going to is about 4 hours away so would they be searching for me there?

We imagine it is painful to hear them say things like that to you. You do not deserve to be mistreated in any way. If you feel threatened or at risk, it is your right to report to authorities for help (911 or child protective services). Sometimes there are issues at home that may be resolved with the help of a trusted adult or friend, family member, or even a family intervention specialist such as a social worker or counselor. However, it seems you may feel that living at home is something you no longer want, and you mentioned that you are planning to leave. A very important thing to consider is safety and stability as leaving home is a big decision. It sounds like you have been trying to plan things out as you stated you have a place to stay and are exploring how you can earn income for basic needs. It sounds like you have given this a lot of thought.

And in regards to police searching for you, we unfortunately cannot give a specific answer because each state, city, and even county handles runaway cases differently. I am a run away

I ran away last night my mother saw me walk out the door and didn't say anything to me. I am 17 and I just want to know how much trouble can the people I'm staying with get in for helping me? I was told just a few moments ago in the state of Louisiana you CAN'T RUN AWAY
