I'm 17 and I live in Kentucky I'm fixing to graduate in September or early October and I was wondering if I could move out where I'm not 18 yet could my parents stop me or force me home? I have a good place set up to go to when I do leave. I just want to move out already because my mom is crazy and calls me all kinds of names like a ********** and stuff and I can't deal with it for 9 more months. Help.

Re: Can a graduated 17 year old move out in Kentucky?
Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like things have been pretty tough at home and you are feeling pretty frustrated with the idea of staying there for 9 more months. It’s understandable, and we’re glad that you contacted us. We’re here to support you.
It sounds like things with your mom at home are really difficult. You don’t deserve to be getting called names. If you think that talking through this would be helpful, we have resources for counseling services, either individual or family. If you call us at 1800runaway (786 2929) we could try to locate some near you.
We’re not legal experts, so we really cannot say what would or would not happen for your situation. Generally speaking, you are under the age of 18 and leave without consent from legal guardians, they would have the right to make a runaway report. If a report is made and the police find you, typically they would just bring you back home. However, anyone that you stay with could potentially be charged for harboring. One option you have to find out what they would do for your situation specifically is to call your local law enforcement and just ask hypothetically. You do not have to provide any personal identifying information in order to get this information.
It sounds like you have a safe place in mind that you would go to if you did leave home, which is good to hear. We’re here to help you out as much as we can, so please do call or chat if you want to talk more. We’re here 24/7.
Best of luck,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
