I'm planning on moving out when I am 18. I live in Ohio and I'm pretty sure it's legal for me to move out at 18. I have told my parents that I'm moving out but I do not have a good relationship with them and they are in denial and kinda saying that I won't be moving. I have arrangements on where I am staying. but I was wondering what I can take with me when I leave because I don't want to take something then have my parents try to say I stole it. please help

Re: moving out when 18
Hi there,
Thank you for contacting us. It sounds like you have some really good questions regarding moving out and we’re glad that you reached out.
So it sounds like you don’t have a good relationship with your parents, but you want to move out and have a safe place to go once you turn 18. We’re not legal experts, but in most states the legal age of an adult is 18 which means you have the right to decide where you live.
In regards to what you can take, it seems like anything that you have ownership of or over would be something that you can take. It can be difficult if something is actually legally belonging to them- for example a car that is registered in their name. If you are not completely sure of a specific item, you can call or chat with us and we can try to talk more specifically. If we are unable to answer, we have legal resources that we could try to look up local to you that would be more knowledgeable.
Best of luck,
