Re: My parents told me to move out lastnight, and changed their
Thanks again for writing in. It seems like you’re interested in learning more about the emancipation process. You mentioned that you’re 17 and wanting to leave your house but unsure of how to do that. Emancipation is a legal process that you would have to go through the courts in your area to accomplish. Just so you know though, it is often times a very long process and since you are already 17, by the time anything went through you may be 18 already, and in most states that’s the legal adult age. So that may be something you want to consider. Do you think if you got emancipation papers your parents would be willing to sign them? If you left the house do you have a safe place you could stay? If you are interested in learning more about emancipation in your state you would probably want to call the family courts in your county or contact a legal aid service. If you need some more information or legal resources you could always give us a call at 1-800-RUNAWAY. Perhaps it would be helpful to talk with someone about the entire situation and come up with some possible options. Also if you need the numbers to the courts in your area or any legal resources we would be happy to look those up for you as well. Hopefully that answered some of your questions and feel free to call us, we are available 24 hours a day. Best of luck and take care.

Re: My parents told me to move out lastnight, and changed their
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing the details of your story. Sounds like you're going through an intense situation right now. Glad you were able to contact us.
Seems like you want to know if you can legally leave home and still keep your money, medicaid and car. If you are still under the age of 18, chances are that you still might have to go by what your parents say. Even though they told you to move out, they still have the last say as to whether or not you can leave. Why is it that you need to leave? What's going on at home that you can't be there any longer?
Sounds like there may be more details to your story that might help us help you further. If you are able and willing, please call us toll free at 1800.RUNAWAY 24hrs a day.
Best of luck and we hope to hear from you soon,
NRS

My parents told me to move out lastnight, and changed their
I'm 17 and in 3 weeks I should be starting my senior year of highschool. I have social security right now, and my guardians get a check of 500 a month. I also have medicaid. I have a car that was bought with my social security money. I want to know what will happen to my social security if I leave, if I get my car, and if I'll still have medicaid.
Even though I don't have a job yet, I would love to be emancipated, but don't know how.Tags: None
